Still stitching…

So here it is.. the top and back are ready.. still waiting for a name!

I’ve also still been hard at work making pebbles. As you can see I still need a lot of practice!!I’m trying to make sure the pebbles aren’t all the same size but some are coming out oval instead of round..  Oh well.. maybe I did that on purpose? HAH!

Yesterday was full of cooking instead of quilting. I made three gallons of spaghetti sauce and four gallons of Chili. I freeze it in one gallon increments so it’s ready for the days I don’t want to or can’t cook.  I should have made more spaghetti sauce but didn’t have enough italian sausage.

My grand dog made it through his neutering and it has been close to impossible to keep him calm since coming home. He wants to play! It makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it! One more day in the life.. My zucchini is blooming and so are the green beans.. I’m eating strawberries as fast as they ripen and snack on radishes as I weed the rows.  The yard cats have killed two of my tomato plants or at least I think it’s them.. I’ll set a trap to find out tonight! They broke the top of the plants off! I may have to look into putting naphtha out there but I’d rather not .(It stinks!)

Hoping this finds you getting through your days with pockets of joy found in places that surprise you!

GOOD Morning!

Yesterday was not a very productive day for me personally.. DH and I found a new (previously owed) car for DD and we drove the hour there to see it then a half hour testing etc. ..yada yada.. bought the car and came home. All the searching came after I sold her truck yesterday morning. Home by 5:30 pm and got dinner on the table by 6 pm.

Somehow I did fit a trip to the fabric store in the middle of all that! I didn’t have the right purple for my grand puppy’s quilt!  At the cutting table the salesperson asked what I planned for the fabric and I told her I was expecting a grand baby. She was excited for me! DH had come in with me (whether to hurry me along or to see what I was spending, it’s hard to say) But he had to correct me and tell her it wasn’t a baby it was a puppy. I don’t think he gets it.  This is practice for when there are babies! See, I knew y’all would get it!

Now all I gotta do is pick a pattern.. So far I’m looking at these two.

I’d like the middle available to embroider her name but I can do that on the border.

Today there won’t be much accomplished as it is errand day. Hoping y’all find pockets of joy throughout the day!

Could anything more absurd happen?

It’s always something!!

Lookin' for Cats on the top Deck

Okay, I have the most beautiful Doxie in the World. You saw her baby picture a few days ago. I am not biased! So anyway, she has a few issues. First and foremost are cats. She saw her first when we moved in here. There are so many strays around here it is shameful. Well they have found a way into our garage… our garage is half of the house as you could tell from the pictures of us painting. It could easily hold four cars!

So as I was saying the cats… one has decided to have a litter in there and my Lola has figured it out! No, she can’t get to the cat, it’s in what will be the bottom floor to the apartment on the other side of the house and is now filled with our ‘stuff’ but her barking?  She got into the garage because DH decided to open the back garage door. You can see the door in that picture of her.

She bit through her lip just barking! Yes she did! SERIOUSLY! Her front left canine was stuck through her lip! I had to pull the lip off it! We are talking seriously gross!

I spent Yesterday Surfing!

Thunder is not my friend!

I woke today at 4 am to Mo-Jo-ho-witz panicked by a thunderstorm. Poor little dude is terrified by thunder. We adopted him last year from my niece in Ohio. So now he’s here in the Thunderstorm Capital! I kept thinking he  would adjust to it in time. But I’m beginning to see that is not going to happen.

I didn’t get a thing done yesterday. Seriously, nothing! I guess it’s not too big a deal it was only one day, right?

But I did get to visit a bunch of blogs! There are some seriously breath-taking quilters out there. (did you notice how many times I say seriously? that’s just weird!) Anyway, I’m going to share some links again today. You’ve got to visit these to see what I’ve seen!

Quilt Obsession You also need to visit the InkLingo site.. she makes you a believer!

Dena Crain Published Author, teacher who is so active in her community it seems like she’s everywhere at once!

Virtual Quilter This is an Electric Quilt expert.. her designs are amazing and she still insists that one day I will learn EQ! (I’m starting to believe her!)

Quilt Skipper Jenny K Lyons, she is a teacher and award-winning quilter. She just received her acceptance into Paducah this year. You’ve got to see the quilt! On top of all that she’s an absolute doll!

Quilt Inspiration This one is an inspiration… lots of quilt pictures.. color ways .. yep inspiring!

Quilt Dad Now that his arm has healed, keep an eye out for more exciting fabrics and quilts to appear!

Sew Inspired Her’s is a slice of life and a fun read.. I love her year-end collage of all her projects of the year. What an awesome idea!

Garden2day I don’t think there are enough adjectives to describe her .. Talented, inspiring and multi-talented are a few.

Well I could keep this up for hours.. trying to list them all but there’s few. I really have to find a better way to keep track of them! If you have favorites please share! I can’t seem to get enough!

I’ll have my regular posting up later… after the storm… it’s hard to write with trembling dogs staring at me!

(Sorry.. had to update becuz I forgot to tag this blog…)

Someone has been in my Quilt Room!

My quilt room is seriously trashed! I mean seriously! I don’t know how it happened. We moved in here about 18 months ago and it looks like I’m still in a state of remodeling.

When we first moved here I put the quilting table together and found out the room was not big enough for it! So I did what any rational person would do. I had my DH cut a chunk out of the wall! I still haven’t finished it so it looks right. Then there’s the drywall patch above the electrical panel that was never finished.  In order to use my machine I have to pull it away from that wall or it hits the cabinets! Then there’s no room for the cutting table.

There’s scraps all over the floor. Where is the maid? Oh yeah, that’s me. But I’m on such a roll! I don’t want to stop to clean! It would hinder my creative process! Okay, so that’s a line but it sure sounded good! Yes, all the mess is slowing my creative process too. But don’t go all rational on me now. I had you at cutting the chunk out of the wall! I know I did.

So as soon as I finish my grand-dog quilt I have to clean this up. Maybe even get the new computer desk out of the closet (put there 18 months ago), naw I’ll save that for later. I wouldn’t want to rush into anything!.

Grand Dog Quilt

Is this too fancy for a dog quilt? Or not fancy enough?

It’s for the best grand dog ever… so I’m leaning toward not fancy enough.

Her name is Elsie but we all call her Moomie she looks like a little cow. Only when she is still that is! She loves nap time so this quilt is just what she needs!

Any how it is one more check off my to-do list. Two more baby quilts, get that twin off the table and start my next queen. Oh yeah, my sis sent me a quilt that needs repair I’ve got to fit that in there. It is a perfect reminder that quality fabric matters! Cheap fabric falls apart. No I didn’t make the quilt, it’s one of those from a department store. You know the ones I’m talking about. I told her the whole thing is going to fall apart but she really likes the colors and I’m not about to offer to make her a king lone star quilt anytime soon!

Two weeks down on my blog a day challenge! I sure hope I get better at this! I gotta admit, it is keeping me focused.

Greatness???

“I’m on the verge of greatness here..” Now why did that statement illicit guffaws from my DH in the living room? I mean it could happen. Right?

Besides I wasn’t talking to him anyway! I was talking to the dogs! The dogs think this is their quilt room. I have to fight them for my sewing chair. Sometimes sewing with them on my lap. Which is difficult since Mo-Jo thinks he needs to see what I’m doin’.

Besides I don’t laugh when he’s talkin’ to himself! It’s taken a while for me to realize that he’s not talking to me. Sometimes I still say “what?”. He tells everyone I don’t listen simply because I usually assume he’s talkin’ to himself and he has to repeat himself a few times. At least I’m talking to someone!

Back to my verge of greatness.. I may have exaggerated a little  but Mo and the girls they understand.

Dog Quilts.. quilt for dogs?

I don’t have grand-children but I do have grand dogs. So the rational thing to do is make them quilts! Right?  Well, Of course!

I made one for the latest addition Riley. Doxies love blankets! Here he is as a pup.. and he’s even better looking now!

So my #1 grand dog doesn’t have her own quilt yet. Sad but true, so I must divert from babies and get to my dawgs! She is my favorite  ( you can have favorites with grand dogs) so I’ve come up with some fabric and a design that should in fact be perfect! I may just have to make her a matching toy!

Stay tuned for pictures!
