Under the weather..

It feels like months but it’s only been a few weeks.. I’ve finally rounded the corner and am improving a bit. Of course I slept almost 18 hours yesterday.. maybe I’ve been tired too? Sick and tired?

I have been pebbling away on the bubble quilt and I’ve got about 4 inches by 12 inches left to finish the inside  quilting.. I decided to decide on the borders after the quilting . (isn’t that just like not deciding?)Honestly I just couldn’t decide about the borders..

I haven’t gotten to see my new grand-pup but once. Too sick to even finish her quilt but that’s in the works for this weekend. Maybe I’ll get to puppy sit while he works? They decided on her temporary name. It will be months before we really know what we’re going to call her. Now It’s Tunechi.. I know, right? His first dog was named Twinkie, wait for it.. Her real name turned out to be “My Butt”. So things could still be worse!

The garden is doing great! Corn is knee-high.. broccoli is heading up.. beans and zucchini are producing great and cucumbers and almost ready to start picking. I planted Okra for the first time and the plants look good but I have no idea when to expect or how much so that’s a wait and see. Blackberries and strawberries are producing and the tomato and green pepper plants are loaded! It’s very relaxing just sitting out there!

I’ve enjoyed keeping up with your blogs even when I couldn’t write.. hope your day is full of happy surprises!

Ireland Bound?? I wish!

(LOC) (Photo credit: The Library of Congress)”][Howth and Ireland's Eye. County Dublin, Irela...The count down is now 85 days until the Quilt Show! I mean seriously who wouldn’t want to go? I know it’s a lifelong dream of mine to go to Ireland. I don’t have any definitive reason but hey, if there’s a Quilt Show, tell me.. whats a better reason?

Even McCall’s has a quilting Ireland tour! SEE!! It’s not just me. Other people see quilting as a reason to go to Ireland. But wait even Ricky Tims is going to be there.. I’ve always wanted to meet Ricky Tims! I guess that’s another reason to go, right? (Shhhh… these are reasons not excuses! And I’m not done!! ) I’ve gotten all but two of the Irish Quilting Magazine since it’s premiere issue. The quilts are so beautiful. The pictures just send my imagination wild with possibilities!

Unfortunately it’s not in my budget but it doesn’t stop my dreaming about it! It’s a romantic notion and I enjoy looking into it each year.. you know, just in case my Dreamz Happen! So if you go please take pictures and tell Ricky “Hi” for me!

Still stitching…

So here it is.. the top and back are ready.. still waiting for a name!

I’ve also still been hard at work making pebbles. As you can see I still need a lot of practice!!I’m trying to make sure the pebbles aren’t all the same size but some are coming out oval instead of round..  Oh well.. maybe I did that on purpose? HAH!

Yesterday was full of cooking instead of quilting. I made three gallons of spaghetti sauce and four gallons of Chili. I freeze it in one gallon increments so it’s ready for the days I don’t want to or can’t cook.  I should have made more spaghetti sauce but didn’t have enough italian sausage.

My grand dog made it through his neutering and it has been close to impossible to keep him calm since coming home. He wants to play! It makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it! One more day in the life.. My zucchini is blooming and so are the green beans.. I’m eating strawberries as fast as they ripen and snack on radishes as I weed the rows.  The yard cats have killed two of my tomato plants or at least I think it’s them.. I’ll set a trap to find out tonight! They broke the top of the plants off! I may have to look into putting naphtha out there but I’d rather not .(It stinks!)

Hoping this finds you getting through your days with pockets of joy found in places that surprise you!

Just one stitch..

I’m putting the last border on the New Grand Puppy quilt. #1 picks her up Sunday so I have to wait until then to embroider the name. But it’s a two-day drive home so it will be ready before she gets here! I got a couple more throat widths done on the Bubble Quilt. First the background then the metallic thread. I am so happy I got the tension problem fixed! Quilting life is good here again!

Today is already stacking up to be one of those days! I took my other grand dog to get neutered this morning. It has my stomach so upset! I can’t pick him up until 3 pm. So today I’ll worry all day! Meanwhile I will quilt.. it is the only relaxing thing I can think of!

Also I spent some time with my Mom this morning.. it’s hard. Everytime I think it’s going to get better she slides back three steps. Everything that happens seems to be a personal attack on her worth as a person.  I’m frustrated trying to convince her that not only is she loved but she is lovable.

Taking it one stitch at a time today.. hope your day is un-eventful!

Spring Ahead

But, what if I didn’t want to spring??? There’s probably a good reason for the time change to still be messing with our internal clocks. I don’t know what it is but I’m sure there’s a reason. Even the dogs seem off their game today.

I’m going to spend some quality time today watching the garden grow.  It’s very relaxing. Of course I want to spend some time in the quilt room too. I’ve gotten a pretty good rhythm going. It get almost hypnotic.

I cut the fabric for the puppy quilt and am starting to sew my strips. I changed direction on the pattern.. lets see if I like how it turns out. More quilty pictures tomorrow.. that is if I actually get anywhere!  I’ve found I can only sit and quilt for about fifteen minutes at a time before the spasms start so I have a couple of projects going so I move a little in between.

Go ahead and Spring.. you’ll get used to it!

Micro Handles

I’m not sure how I’d be able to do all these pebbles without the micro handles DH made for me.

These are the ones you can order from Tin Lizzie.. I’m sure I told y’all about my hands..

I can rest my palm on the ball and I don’t get the cramping that a handle sends me to.  With all these pebbles I’m grateful I have my handles instead of theirs!

I’m having fun.. I still have a bunch to learn (or re-learn). I forget more than I remember but I am loving the process!

Making Bubbles

Another 6 am wake up.. I’m gonna be (more ) silly stoopid if this keeps up! I told you about my grand dog (the one with Addison’s.) She’s staying here for the next few weeks BUT she thinks it’s time to get up when she hears any noise!  I have five (yes, real-life) dogs sleeping in my bed and it is a very delicate balance to keep them all sleeping.

I’m heading back to the quilt room to play with thread. I finally got the pebbles down but they are time-consuming. I think it’s worth it though.. I love the look of them! I still have to figure out the metallic bubbles, I may spend some time looking at bubbles today!

It’s getting a bit frustrating trying to figure out what I need to do to get this concept into the thread.  But then I saw this (the pink bubbles) and I SEE!  Do you see what I see? I can do this!

Oh, the needle changes have become second nature now.. although I did have to put nail polish on them to color code them.. I kept forgetting which was which. I won’t tell you how many times I put the same needle back on that I took off!

Well I’m missing yet another quilt show this weekend but it can’t be helped. I looked into going to the Paducah Show but finding a hotel room this late was impossible. I guess it ‘s not going to be my year for quilt shows. No worries, I’ll use my free time to make more quilts!

Photo updates..

So here’s a few quick pictures..

The Diamond Blues…

Metallic Bubbles.. first try at “thread painting” .. still got a lot to learn! Not to mention I have to change needles and thread between quilting cotton thread and metallic!

I’m gonna get back at it.. more updates tomorrow! I gotta figure out the whole needle change thing! I’m planning on pebbling everything outside the metallic thread.

There ya go..

We got all the title and registration paper work done and a new set of tires for the new car so DD is one Happy Camper! Of course she owes us slave services for the next six months but now she’s happy with that. We’ll see in a few months if she’s still as happy.

I’m hopeful I can return to the quilting room today though I’m not holding out too much hope. It could happen! I decided on the puppy quilt. I hope my Duetta gets here before I’m ready to quilt so I can get the embroidery done.. the only problem I see encountering is that the new puppy has no name yet! #1 doesn’t name his dogs until he’s been with them for a day.

Here’s our adopted boy we got in January. He’s eight pounds of love! Harry brings us back up to four dogs in the house. He’s got a way to go though.. he wants to eat the chickens! He’s half their size! On Harry’s first day here #3 son heard my screams and came running  .. Harry got into the chicken run I was trying to catch him..but #3 couldn’t help because he was laughing so hard.. I thought the chickens were going to eat him!! I was frantic! (okay, it was a funny sight)

I got a vet appointment in an hour.. my GrandDog Moomie has Addison’s and has to get an injection once a month. Today I get to learn how to give the injection.. doesn’t that sound like fun? I gave myself injections for three years so it shouldn’t be too hard.

Starting my day.. hope yours is full of  happy surprises!

GOOD Morning!

Yesterday was not a very productive day for me personally.. DH and I found a new (previously owed) car for DD and we drove the hour there to see it then a half hour testing etc. ..yada yada.. bought the car and came home. All the searching came after I sold her truck yesterday morning. Home by 5:30 pm and got dinner on the table by 6 pm.

Somehow I did fit a trip to the fabric store in the middle of all that! I didn’t have the right purple for my grand puppy’s quilt!  At the cutting table the salesperson asked what I planned for the fabric and I told her I was expecting a grand baby. She was excited for me! DH had come in with me (whether to hurry me along or to see what I was spending, it’s hard to say) But he had to correct me and tell her it wasn’t a baby it was a puppy. I don’t think he gets it.  This is practice for when there are babies! See, I knew y’all would get it!

Now all I gotta do is pick a pattern.. So far I’m looking at these two.

I’d like the middle available to embroider her name but I can do that on the border.

Today there won’t be much accomplished as it is errand day. Hoping y’all find pockets of joy throughout the day!
